[Solved] Ampere Altra Dev Kit no video signal via pcie GPU

Hi everyone, I’m new to ampere platform, and get my Ampere altra dev kit recently.
But I got some issues with pcie graphic card.
I’m currently using AMD WX5100 graphics card, inserted in the first pcie slot. But I could not see output via displayport on the card. I can see output from the VGA port of the BMC,but just no signal on discrete graphics card. Does any one know what to do with this situation?
I’m currently run a Ubuntu 22.04 arm64 desktop OS on it, and using 6.2 kernel.
And also I see a P_2V5_BMC_AUX sensors shows only 0.02V, don’t know whether this matters.

Can anyone help me?

Finally I borrowed a ZOTEC GTX1060 card (which is listed in AADK’s AVL) and install the nvidia driver. Now it works as expected.
It seems that only nvidia cards compatible with AADK, AMD cards just not work properly(even if I see someone use this card on other ampere platform, maybe the firmware matters?).
The nvidia driver should be installed to make nvidia card work as exptected.(opensoure driver nouveau just crash when loading).

@kenmoini did you get yours up and running or @bexcran?
is it a graphics card compatibility issue? I know they are limited…

I tried using an AMD WX5700 (?) card and didn’t have any success because AMD don’t have an AArch64 version of their amdgpu driver, and I don’t think the built-in open source one worked.

Unfortunately it seems NVIDIA is the only option for now.

Is your card no output too? I tried an NVIDIA RTX A4000 card today, but it seems also no output with opensource driver. Do I need install the nvidia driver to make it work properly?

FWIW, I’ve used a 7900xt on my box, though I was on a newer kernel (6.3 iirc). Any kernel lower than 6.3 and amdgpu would fail to initialize the card.

Switched to an Nvidia card due to some other workflow-breaking bugs within amdgpu but I was getting to a desktop at the very least

There are some issues with amd video cards. I am running Fedora 39, previously 38 and 37, with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 card and it works pretty well with the Nouveau driver. it will not display anything until X or wayland starts with gdm however.
