ptitSeb is doing great work on box64 using ADLINK Ampere desktop. Video below is box64 0.3.6 Linux x86 user space on Debian Trixie arm64 running Windows games on Wine/Proton Steam using Altra 128 core 2.6GHz, 6 memory channels, RTX 4060. I wonder what we’ll see with 128 core 3GHz, 8 memory channels, RTX 5070. Or AmpereOne 96 core 3.6GHz, 8 or 12 memory channels, RTX 5090.

Wow, the game runs so smooth, the CPU is basically just chilling—using less than 10%!
Yep, @GloriousEggroll is also up to high jinks with Doom 2016 on Ampere via FEX
I’ve spent some time getting everything set up and decided to put together a little video showing off some of the games I’ve got running.
There are a large amount of games I haven’t recorded footage of yet and many more that I want to test.
Love it! box64 is developed by ptitSeb on ADLINK donated Ampere gear. @bexcran gets 150fps Path of Exile Win x86 Steam with Wine on box64 0.3.6 with AmpereOne desktop
I started testing more games. Especially after getting ubuntu 25.10 running on my X elite laptop I wanted to go back and try some other games that were not working before on my Ampere setup.
Nice! Here are a bunch of Steam Windows x86 games running with Wine/Proton and and ptitSeb’s newly released box64 0.3.8 on ADLINK Ampere Altra 64 core 3.3GHz and RTX 4060. New Box64 v0.3.8 released – Box86 / Box64

I’m really curious what the performance difference is between the 3.3ghz Altras and AmpereOne Cpus is in games. I know the memory speed and clock speed bumps help. But I wonder where is stacks up compared to something like a A720 or Neoverse N1.
Don’t yet have scientific apples to apples comparison. It does appear that Steam Windows x86 games with Wine/Proton box64 exhibit double the FPS on AmpereOne 96 core desktop compared to a similarly configured Altra 3GHz or 3.3GHz desktop.
Been a bit busy these past few months but I’ve spent some time messing with more games. There has been some very interesting updates and the performance I’m getting is wild, all things considered.
Steams Snap version has a beta that has FEX built into it. I’m not sure about the flatpak or other versions, I’m still working on getting AMD gpu patches to work which is something I’ve never done before… I digress!
I play FF14, and I could never get that game to load with box64/crossover preview or fex for the longest time. Even my Orion O6 and X elite could barely function with it. However, with this update to steam I was able to not only run the game; but after troubleshooting some issues involving memory registers (From what I understand). The game now runs at 70-80fps in the over-world and around 100fps in instances. I played the game for hours on and off over the last few weeks and never once had a crash either. Absolutely insane.
Helldivers 2 with box64 in my video was around 25-35fps and now it was around 60fps regularly.
No mans sky was 144fps with some small dips but that could have just been the game loading.
I still want to try oblivion remastered, Eldenring, and Guildwars 2 again. These games ran on Box64 and I want to see if there is an improvement after these past few months. I also want to try out cyberpunk 2077 and see if I can surpass what CodeWeavers were getting.
Some other games that I tried would not work even though on box64 or crossover they did work, like ff12, kenshi and dread delusions. So there is still teething issues. But this improvement is beyond nuts.
