Anyone with a working MP72-HB0? BIOS version?

Does anyone have a working MP72-HB0 with an Altra max? Specifically one that says Rev 2.0 on the board? If you do, could you share what BIOS and SCP version you have? Even better if you could share a dump of your BIOS or have an archived copy

I saw the other thread regarding issues with this board, but I already have this so I might as well try to make it work. I have an open gigabyte support case too but I hear I shouldn’t hold out much hope for that.

I have a Gigabyte MP72-HB0, a pair of 128-30s and some memory off the QVL list of Gigabytes website and the machine fails to POST. I have done the typical reductive troubleshooting, down to a single processor, swapping them, as well as many memory configurations, and reducing to a single memory module. The hardware is all new to me, the board was billed as new when purchased, the processors were used, memory is new.

This board shipped to me with BIOS F21b or d, I forget exactly which. Based on the Gigabyte release notes it made sense to me attempt to update the BIOS and SCP since it would appear that Altra and Altra max were not supported until BIOS train F3x.

The BMC on this device works and in my troubleshooting when I attempted to upgrade the BIOS and SCP, it would report success, but the versions reported by the BMC would not update, SPC has always listed all zeros. Eventually I risked updating the BMC, which was successful and I was then able to successfully flash the BIOS and SCP using the BMC, but on the initial full power off reset the BMC took a very long time to initialize, eventually coming online but it no longer lists the BIOS version at all in the BMC, SCP is still all zeros.

Not leaving well enough alone I pulled the flashchip from bios 0 and dumped it with a CH341a, the resulting bin file hashes the same as the recovery bin file for the F33L BIOS from Gigabyte. I reflashed it anyway and it verified again, reinstalled and same behavior. To be safe I also tried manually flashing these to the F31e BIOS, it verifies too, but same behavior.

Any input is appreciated or insights into known working configurations with this board.

I don’t have gigabyte board.

Before you upgrade the BIOS and SCP, can it boot ?
Can it get the scp log?
Some boards can get it from UART or ipmitool sol, or both of them.
It would helpful for debug where is the issue.

Does BMC support factory reset function? If yes, try to run it.
