Hello Ampere Community,
I am experiencing a critical issue with my Foxconn MT Collins server and would greatly appreciate any assistance or guidance you can provide.
My server details are:
- Model: Foxconn MT Collins
-
- Chassis: 2U Rackmountable Chassis with rails
-
- Processors: 2x 80-Core Ampere Altra Q80-30 (160 Cores total)
-
- Storage: 24x 2.5" NVMe hard drive slots with trays, 1x Intel SSDPE2KX010T8 1TB 2.5" NVMe/PCIe SSD, 1x Samsung PM983 960GB PCIe/NVMe SSD (MZ-1LB9600)
-
- RAM: 128GB RAM - 4x 32GB DDR4 2Rx4 PC4-3200AA modules
-
- NIC: 1x Broadcom Quad Port 25GB/s SFP28 NIC
-
- Power Supplies: 2x 2000W 80 Plus Platinum
My current BIOS details are:
Vendor: Ampere(R)
Version: 0ACOC015 (SCP: 1.07.20210713)
Release Date: 08/03/2021
BIOS Revision: 5.15
Firmware Revision: 1.7
- Power Supplies: 2x 2000W 80 Plus Platinum
The primary issue is with the RAM. Whenever I install RAM modules, the system reports them as ‘installed but not operational’. This prevents me from fully utilizing the installed memory.
Additionally, I am unable to update my BIOS firmware. I have attempted to contact Ampere Computing support to obtain a login and password for the customer portal to download the necessary firmware and tools, but I have not received a response. Without access to the official firmware and update procedures, I am stuck with the current BIOS version, which may be contributing to the RAM issue.
Could anyone in the community offer assistance with the following:
- RAM Issue: Has anyone encountered a similar problem where RAM is detected but not operational on an Ampere Altra-based system, particularly the MT Collins or Jade platform? Are there specific RAM compatibility requirements or troubleshooting steps I should follow?
-
- BIOS Update: Is there an alternative method to obtain the latest BIOS firmware for the Foxconn MT Collins (Ampere Jade) board, or a way to update it without requiring access to the Ampere customer portal? I understand that some files (like ATF images and board setting files) are proprietary, but perhaps there are community-driven solutions or older, publicly available versions that might help.
-
- Contacting Ampere Support: Does anyone have advice or alternative channels for getting a response from Ampere Computing support regarding customer portal access and firmware downloads?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and expertise!
