Ampere Developer Summit – September 26, 2024!
Hello All,
We are hosting out first Ampere Developer Summit and we wanted to give you some more details about the guest speakers and what they will be discussing.
Why Consider Ampere’s Cloud Native Processors? With Oracle and Fermyon
While CPU architecture and design trade-offs are not always top of mind for application developers when they are writing code in C, Java, Golang, or Rust, they should be. In the Summit’s first session, Sean Varley, Chief Evangelist at Ampere, will share some of the design features of Ampere CPUs and how they can have a real impact on application performance. Sean will be joined by Dor Laor, CEO and Co-Founder of ScyllaDB to talk about how Cloud Native Processors give distributed cloud native databases the high-performance and predictability they need. They will be joined by Kate Goldenring, Senior Developer at Fermyon. She will be talking about how Ampere CPUs with their high core density and low power usage are a perfect match for Wasm-based functions on Kubernetes. You can check out our teaser write up on the Ampere Developers site.
Workloads that Shine! With Uber & Oracle
When most people think of Uber, they think about getting a ride or food, right from their phone and then being able track the ride or food until it arrives at their door, just like magic. Developers/Architects wonder how do you process that much data in real time? While DevOps and CTOs wonder how do you do it at price that the company can turn a profit? In this talk Naren Nayak, VP of Customer and Developer Engineering at Ampere discuses with Vikrant Soman, Solution Architect (Hardware Infrastructure) at Uber and Dmitry Polyakovsky, Consulting Member of the Technical Staff at Oracle how Uber makes the magic happen (without breaking the bank).
How to Put AI in Production for Less. With Wallaroo.AI and Oracle
Speaking of magic, AI is everywhere, with every company seeming to try to become an AI company. But most companies are struggling to find a way do AI cost effectively. The common solution is to find expensive and power hungry GPUs, but that doesn’t work very well, with most AI/ML projects never make it to production. What if there was way to use Cloud Native Processors, with their high core counts and energy efficiency that would allow you to get the project to production more often? Victor Jakubiuk, Head of AI at Ampere speaks with Amar Gowda, Sr. Principal Product Lead - Gen AI & GPU Incubations at Oracle, and Steve Notley, Director of Field Engineering at Wallaroo.AI will talk about how running your models on Ampere CPUs, Ampere Optimized AI code, will give you the performance you need and leads to more projects getting into Production.
Moving to a Mixed-Architecture World. With Stackable and Uber
So, by now you are convinced of how Cloud Native Processors are the future, allowing you to move from legacy x86 systems, with scalability to as a large as you need, and tips that will make your AI/ML get to production. But where to start? Dave Neary, Director of Developer Relations at Ampere, will speak with Maximilian Wittich, Software Engineer at Stackable and Andreas Lykke, Senior Software Engineer at Uber about their experiences in rebuilding, testing, and packaging software for a new architecture. (It is a lot easier that you think!)
