Historically, shipping multi-arch container manifests required navigating a major bottleneck: the lack of high-performance, native Arm64 CI/CD infrastructure, which often forced teams to rely on slow QEMU emulation or constrained hosted environments. A recent CNCF technical blog post by Dave Neary highlights how a $3M OCI credits program powered by Ampere Computing CPUs has solved this infrastructure constraint. Cloud-native project maintainers can now provision arbitrary-sized, self-hosted GitHub Actions runners directly on OCI. This native compute capability is already eliminating testing parity gaps and accelerating build pipelines for critical distributed systems like OpenTelemetry, Falco, containerd, and Longhorn.
