Which processor—Ampere Altra or AmpereOne—works better for real cloud-based tasks like running apps, handling lots of users, or doing data processing?
It really depends. Ampere Altra has less cores (32-96 cores) and AmpereOne has more 96-192. But cores aren’t everything, L2 Cache, DDR4 vs. DDR5, system level cache, PCIe Gen5, etc…

For your criteria; more users, (more?) apps and faster data processing, then AmpereOne is the choice. The top SKUs of Altra & AmpereOne compared have 64 more cores, double L2 cache on each core and run 200MHz faster. There are also additions to instruction set, pre fetch and re order on the front end that will also increase IPC.
